I find with some philosophy texts its difficult to get to the writer's point - what it is he is trying to tell you - as it's buried in the text. This method allows the reader to see clearly what Spinoza is saying.

The God part was confusing, as he seemed to be using the word 'God' in a way that is not the way Church-goers would use the word.
